A brief history about the division and section
Faced with a growing number of Kenyans migrating to different parts of the world, the Department of Immigration Services saw and recognized the challenges encountered by these Kenyans in the diaspora as residency is tied to the validity of their travel documents, national passports. The department through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made it possible for Kenyans to submit their passport applications through the missions abroad without necessarily having to travel to Nairobi for the same. This led to the creation of Consular Services Section.
